Κεντρικός ομιλητής θα είναι ο Dr. Bishara J. Freij, διακεκριμένος ειδικός στην Παιδιατρική Λοιμωξιολογία και στη Στρατηγική Ορθολογικής Χρήσης Αντιμικροβιακών.

Dr. Freij has been Chief of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at Beaumont Hospital, Royal Oak, since 1990. He obtained his medical degree from the American University of Beirut, Beirut, Lebanon in 1980. He completed his pediatric internship and residency at Georgetown University Medical Center in 1983 and was then a Research Fellow in Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Dallas, Southwestern Medical School, between 1983 and 1985.
Dr. Freij then pursued additional training as a Visiting Fellow at the Infectious Diseases Branch, National Institute of Neurological and Communicative Disorders and Stroke, National Institutes of Health, Bethesda, Maryland, between 1985 and 1987. In 1987, he became an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Georgetown University School of Medicine, a post he held until coming to Beaumont. He is Board-certified in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Infectious Diseases.
Dr. Freij is currently a Professor of Pediatrics at the Oakland University William Beaumont School of Medicine and a Clinical Professor of Pediatrics at Wayne State University School of Medicine, Detroit. He is a Fellow of the Infectious Diseases Society of America, and is a member of numerous national professional organizations such as the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society and the American Society for Microbiology. Dr. Freij lectures on a variety of infectious disease topics, with emphasis on pediatric vaccines, and has published 29 book chapters and over 35 scientific articles. He also served as a Guest Editor for an issue of Clinics in Perinatology that focused on perinatal infections. Dr. Freij has received teaching awards from Beaumont Children’s Hospital, Georgetown University, and the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas.
